Mortifactors

The Mortifactors are a Loyalist Chapter, descended from the Ultramarines through the Second Founding, and they strictly adhere to the Codex Astartes, making them one of the Ultramarines' original successors.

Recruited from the harsh and unforgiving world of Posul, the Mortifactors draw their new warriors from a population of nomadic tribes locked in constant conflict on a planet where the sun never rises, casting its frozen plains in perpetual twilight. The inhabitants of Posul practice cannibalism and survive through brutal combat, and only the fiercest and most ruthless warriors are chosen as neophytes.

Known for their grim demeanor, the Mortifactors are a Chapter consumed with a deep reverence for death, particularly honoring their fallen brothers to an obsessive degree. Their morbid outlook on life and their open veneration of death can make their Imperial allies, especially those with more superstitious beliefs, feel uncomfortable and uneasy in their presence.
